The full-size graduated-depth heated pool is ideal for the entire family! You can relax and enjoy therapeutic benefits of the spacious hot tub or "sweat it out" in a cedar-lined dry sauna. Inside the fitness room, you'll find a 15-station Universal Gym, treadmills, step machines and stationary bikes to help get you in shape or keep you in shape. Afterwards, relax with family and friends in the fireside lounge area with your favorite beverage and enjoy a golden sunset and beautiful views of the golf course.
Lake Forest Recreation Area offers a sporty 9 hole golf course nestled on gently rolling terrain among towering trees on beautiful Voyageur and Eagle Lakes. The golf club offers a full service pro shop, lessons, custom clubs and repair, twilight rates and rental clubs. You want water? We've got water! We have free on-site boat launching and docking. We also offer free row boats and canoes along with kayak, stand up paddleboard and paddleboat rentals. Bring your own motor or rent one for our fishing boats. How about a ski boat or pontoon? Rent one by the day or week at a local marina. Skiing, tubing, wake boarding, stand up paddleboarding... Let it Snow
Welcome to the snowmobile capital of the world! Sled from your front door onto 500 miles of pristine trails. Escape to Lake Forest Resort for your winter getaway and enjoy on-site cross-country skiing and ice skating. Snowshoe trails galore await you right next door in the Nicolet National Forest. We’re also centrally located within an easy drive of several downshill ski areas. How about ice fishing, fat tire biking, sledding and zip lining? Yep, plenty of winter fun to be had in the Northwoods!
Take a Hike - Ride a Bike
Choose from more than 50 designated hiking and 20 biking trails in the Vilas County area. Birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts can also enjoy the Northern Highland - American Legion State Forest and the Nicolet National Forest, offering hundreds of miles of paths and trails just waiting to be explored!
ATVing in the Eagle River area? Yes! Vilas County now allows ATV/UTV access in the communities of Eagle River, Conover, Land O Lakes, and Phelps connected by Routes and Trails as well as Michigan's UP and Forest County, Wisconsin. Ride from your front door onto 70 miles of paved and dirt routes and experience the Northwoods on four wheels while exploring our vast forests and enjoying scenic lakes. Local trails are maintained by the Landover ATV/UTV Club.
Northern WI Geocaching
The Eagle River area is the perfect place to to visit for your next geocaching adventure! Over 100 local caches will lead you to hike, bike and even boat through the beautiful Northwoods of WI. For those who are new to the sport, geocaching is a world-wide outdoor treasure hunting game, using your cell phone or hand-held GPS to hide and seek small waterproof containers that hold logbooks and small trinkets. Northern WI Waterfalls
Just 45 minutes North of Eagle River on the middle branch of the Ontonagan River you'll find the scenic Bond Falls which are a must see for any visitor to the Northwoods. Travel about an hour further North to the Porcupine Mountains and you'll find 25 breathtaking waterfalls in this renowned state park. If visiting while the leaves are changing colors you won't want to miss Lake of the Clouds. Make sure to bring your camera, the views won't disappoint!
Great WI Birding & Nature Trails
With over 200,000 acres of public land, hikers have an opportunity to explore the area and experience nature in all its glory. One local favorite is Anvil Lake Trail, a fabulous destination for bird watchers who wish to venture through the Northern Highlands and stop along the way at the rustic cabin to hand feed the chickadees who make the surrounding fir trees their home.
